Seven individuals found themselves in critical condition following a severe accident that unfolded on Sunday morning at Mangqofoza, opposite the Amos Nogxina community hall. According to an eyewitness account reported to the Pondoland Times, the collision occurred as a white Polo attempted to overtake a loading truck, resulting in a direct impact with a white Kia bakkie.
Nolwazi Tshutsha, who was at the scene, recounted assisting the injured individuals before the arrival of emergency services and police personnel. Tshutsha stated that four occupants were inside the Polo at the time of the collision, while three individuals occupied the Kia bakkie.
Swift action was taken to transport all injured parties to the Oliver Tambo and Adelaide Tambo regional hospital formerly St Patricks Hospital for urgent medical attention.
