Easten Cape Hon MEC Nonceba Kontsiwe sent off 16 under 19 women football players to Germany Wednesday night. These 16 players benefit from the Twinning Agreement, and the Eastern Cape enjoys with Lower Saxony in Germany.
In the same capping/send-off ceremony, MEC Kontsiwe handed over playing attire and equipment to 2 Eastern Cape Women football teams, City Lads from Gqeberha and Thunderbirds from Gcuwa. These teams play in the Hollywood Bets National Leagues.
Present in this ceremony were delegates from SAFA, Old Mutual, Sport Confederation, Women Footballers, coaches, and government officials.
The 16 players departed on Thursday afternoon at 1pm and will return on the 23rd October.
This ceremony was held at Osner Hotel, East London, BCM.
Alfred Nzo SAFA president Andile Ngconjane was part of this send-off ceremony and amongst things he mentioned in his speech, he emphasized the dedication the association has in uplifting the female soccer in South Africa and development of young rural quality players
