The Sarah Baartman District Municipality (SBDM) has strengthened service delivery in Makana Local Municipality with the handover of two essential service vehicles: a Honeysucker truck and a state-of-the-art fire and rescue vehicle. The event took place on 11 November 2025, led by SBDM Speaker Councilor Nomhle Gaga and Portfolio Councillor for Infrastructure Development and Community Services Councillor Athenkosi Diniso, with Makana Executive Mayor Councilor Yandiswa Vara receiving the vehicles on behalf of the municipality.
What Happened?
SBDM officially presented two vehicles designed to improve sanitation and emergency response in Makana. Honey sucker truck, will address long-standing sewerage challenges, especially in Riebeeck East and other affected areas.
The fire and rescue vehicle, is fitted with advanced emergency equipment, including the medical supplies.

SBDM leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening local government capacity across the district. Councilor Nomhle Gaga emphasized that the handover was part of SBDM’s broader vision to ensure that all municipalities are equipped to deliver essential services effectively.
