The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has officially confirmed the payment dates for May 2025, providing millions of grant recipients across the country with clarity on when to expect their funds.
According to the schedule released by SASSA, payments will be made as follows:

Older Persons Grant – Friday, 2 May 2025

Disability Grant – Monday, 5 May 2025

Children’s Grant and all other grants – Tuesday, 6 May 2025
These payments apply to all qualifying beneficiaries, including those receiving the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) R370 grant, which was increased from R350 in April 2024.
SASSA has encouraged beneficiaries to wait for SMS confirmation before withdrawing their money to avoid unnecessary congestion at payment points. The agency also reassured recipients that once deposited, the funds remain safely in their accounts until withdrawn.
Additionally, SASSA recommends the use of digital and retail banking channels for convenience and safety, especially in remote areas where long queues at pay points remain a concern.
Beneficiaries can track their application status and payment details through official online platforms such as statuschecksrd.co.za and srdsassagov.co.za.
As the May payment cycle approaches, SASSA continues to emphasize timely communication and secure access to social grants as part of its broader commitment to social protection in South Africa.
