The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has announced its 2025 grant increases, which will take effect in April. Here’s what you need to know:
- Grant Increases:
- Older Person’s Grant (60-74 years): R2,190 to R2,210
- Older Persons Grant (75+ years): R2,210 to R2,240
- Child Support Grant: R530 to R560
- Foster Care Grant: R1,180 to R1,200
- No Reapplication Needed: If you’re already receiving a SASSA stipend, you don’t need to reapply to receive the April increase.
- Possible Double Payments: There might be a possibility of double payments during critical periods, such as the festive season. However, this has not been confirmed.
February Payment Dates:
- Older Persons Grant: Tuesday, 4 February
- Disability Grants: Wednesday, 5 February
- Children’s Grants: Thursday, 6 February
- SRD grant payments: 22-28 February
Additionally, SASSA has introduced a new black Mzansi Debit Card to replace the old SASSA gold card. Beneficiaries are urged to collect their new cards as soon as possible.
