The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has released the official payment schedule for social grants in April 2025 and reminded beneficiaries of important updates regarding card usage and payment options.
Grant payments will be disbursed as follows:
- Older Persons Grants – Wednesday, 02 April 2025
- Disability Grants – Thursday, 03 April 2025
- Children’s Grants – Friday, 04 April 2025
SASSA spokesperson Paseka Letsatsi confirmed that beneficiaries using the SASSA gold card can still use it throughout the April payment cycle. “The gold card remains active, and clients can transact as usual,” said Letsatsi.
However, SASSA strongly encourages beneficiaries to swap their gold cards for the new Postbank black card to avoid future disruptions. The card swap can be done at various retailers, including Shoprite, Checkers, Usave, Pick n Pay, Boxer, and Spar. Beneficiaries can also locate their nearest replacement site by dialling 120355#.
Direct Bank Payments Available
Beneficiaries are reminded that they have the option to have their grants paid directly into their personal bank accounts. Those who choose this method must visit their nearest SASSA local office with the following documents:
- Proof of bank account issued by the bank
- A three-month bank statement reflecting personal details
- Valid proof of identity
