Santos Beach Auto Extremo Returns to Mossel Bay With Coastal Flair

What began nearly 30 years ago as a casual Spring Snoek Braai among car lovers has evolved into one of South Africa’s most scenic motoring showcases. The Santos Beach Auto Extremo will return to Mossel Bay on Sunday, 7 September 2025, promising a dazzling beachfront display of motoring heritage and modern engineering.

With its spectacular backdrop of ocean views and winding mountain passes, the event has quickly established itself as a highlight on the South African motoring calendar. Visitors can expect to see everything from pre-1918 Model T Fords to the latest Ferraris, with tickets priced at R100 for adults and free entry for children. Tickets are available through iTickets, while exhibitors can register at register.santosbeachautoextremo.co.za.

Event founder and owner of Scribs BENZeum, Waldo Scribante, believes Mossel Bay offers the perfect stage for such an event.

“All the great car shows in the world have one thing in common — a beautiful backdrop,” Scribante says. “There is Villa D’Este on the shores of Lake Como, and Pebble Beach in Southern California. With our breathtaking roads and mountain passes, Mossel Bay is poised to rival them in appeal to motoring connoisseurs.”

The show, now in its second year as a full-scale event, celebrates the union of classic elegance and modern performance. “Santos Beach Auto Extremo is where heritage meets horsepower,” Scribante adds. “Every curve, every chrome detail tells a story worth sharing.”

2025 Highlights
Last year’s debut featured more than 200 collectible and exotic vehicles, and this year promises another unforgettable lineup, including:

  • Ferraris, Porsches, Lamborghinis, and Mercedes-Benz supercars
  • A 1958 Mercedes-Benz 300SL, 1960 190SL, and Ferrari 512
  • American classics like the 1966 Ford Mustang, Studebaker GT, and Ford Thunderbird
  • Street rods and vintage pickups reminiscent of the American Graffiti era
  • Rare finds such as DKW two-stroke saloons and the iconic BMW 333i
  • A special appearance by the rare Porsche 914, known as the “Volks-Porsche”

eSCapeTour Rally
The event will again feature the eSCapeTour, a two-day rally starting on Friday, 5 September in Franschhoek. Covering scenic routes like the Franschhoek and Tradouw passes, the rally includes an overnight stop at Barrydale’s Karoo Art Hotel before culminating in Mossel Bay on Saturday.

From Snoek to Supercars
Honouring its origins, members of the Mercedes-Benz Club and Southern Cape Old Car Club will enjoy the traditional Spring Snoek Braai, prepared by Kobus Harris and his team. “What started as a snoek picnic has evolved into a world-class motoring showcase,” Scribante says.
