Richards Bay FC successfully defended their home turf with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Durban City in the final of the 2025 Premier’s Cup. The match took place on 27 July 2025 at the Umhlathuze Sports Complex in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal.
The tournament, officially opened by KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli, brought together professional football clubs from across the province in a celebration of sport, youth, and community spirit. The Premier described the event as a flagship initiative aimed at nurturing local talent and encouraging youth participation in sport.
Richards Bay FC delighted their home supporters by clinching the prestigious title, showcasing determination and discipline throughout the competition. The tightly contested final saw the hosts emerge victorious with a narrow 1-0 win over Durban City.
Premier Ntuli praised the high standard of play throughout the tournament and called on the community to protect and preserve the recently refurbished Umhlathuze Sports Complex, which played host to the high-stakes fixtures.
In earlier action, Richards Bay FC also secured a dramatic penalty shootout victory over Midlands Wanderers in the semifinals, winning 4-3 after a 1-1 draw in regular time. Siyabonga Nzama was named Man of the Match for his standout performance in that game.
