Residents in the Alfred Nzo district say the justice system is failing them, stating that rape cases take long to be solved in the courts within the district. Stating that almost all rape cases that were reported this year haven’t been solved. Adding that this is making women and children vulnerable to criminals as they know that nothing will be done by the Law.

On Friday, The Bail Application of the 23-year-old man Velisani Mnganai was postponed to the 29th of June by the Maxesibeni Magistrate court. Mngani is accused of raping a 16-year-old girl from Cabazana and gouging out her eyes, leaving her blind. One of Maxesibeni residents who were picketing outside court on Friday said they  have been going to court for four (4) times for one case, adding that these cases have been dragging for far too long now.

Meanwhile, The Rape case against Pastor Mbongiseni Vizicelo Phakade has been postponed to the 27th of September by the Mount Free regional court on Friday.

Phakade is accused of raping a 16-year-old girl who was then studying at Zanokhanyo High school. He has been in police custody since last year December. I think we can call NPA for a comment on this, Maybe to give us a high light of the reason such cases drag for long.

Another pastor from Mangqofoza was granted bail a few weeks ago. He allegedly raped two girls from Mangqofoza locality in Bizana, after they were brought to him for healing

The court was informed of other young girls, who are as young as 12 who might have been raped by the accused pastor
