The eagerly anticipated conclusion of the 2023 National Senior Certificate examinations is set for December 6, 2023. On January 18, 2024, the Minister of Basic Education, Mrs Angie Motshekga, will officially announce the examination outcomes, with candidates receiving their results on January 19, 2024. It is important to note that some results may be unavailable due to technical issues.
Candidates are advised to obtain their statements of results from the respective school or examination center where they wrote their exams. Additionally, results will be accessible on the official website from 6 a.m. on January 19, 2024.
Any queries regarding results should be submitted for investigation within 30 days following the release. Candidates must ensure the accuracy of their names and identity numbers on their statements of results and report any necessary corrections to the Department before February 21, 2024.
Re-mark/Re-check of Exam Script
For candidates seeking a re-mark or re-check of their examination scripts, applications, accompanied by the prescribed fees, can be submitted at the school, district office, or online at www.eservices.gov.za. The closing date for applications, both manual and online, is February 2, 2024.
Fees for re-marking and re-checking per subject are as follows:
– Re-mark: R120.00
– Re-check: R29.00
Viewing of scripts is only permissible after a re-mark or re-check of results. The application deadline for script viewing is 7 days after the release of re-mark or re-check results, with a viewing fee of R234.00.
Results of re-marking will be available from March 15, 2024, at the school or examination center where candidates sat for the 2023 examinations.
June NSC Exams
The supplementary examination in February/March has been phased out. A new opportunity for improvement or completion of outstanding results is available in May/June, with the application deadline for 2024 set for February 8, 2024.
Conditions for Entry:
– Candidates may register for subjects previously registered for in any November examination.
– Candidates absent with valid reasons from external papers may register for the NSC June examination with valid external paper marks (PAT, Oral, and SBA).
– NSC candidates from 2008 onwards may register for the NSC June examination to improve overall achievement or specific subjects.
– Candidates absent for reasons other than illness or death in the family in the November exam may apply for the NSC June examination with valid external paper marks.
Result queries should be submitted within 30 days after result release. Corrections to names and identity numbers must be reported to the Department before August 30, 2024.
Options for Candidates Who Do Not Qualify for June NSC Examination
Candidates not qualifying for the June NSC examination have several options:
1. Re-enroll as a full-time repeater candidate at a school (for candidates under 21).
2. Register as a part-time repeater candidate at a Public Adult Education Centre.
3. Register for the Senior Certificate (SC) examination for adults and out-of-school learners above 21.
4. Consider vocational education and training at Public Further Education and Training (FET) colleges across South Africa.
