Dj Zazi Lusikisiki born

“And I think because as a society now we are redefining many things, as a result, we are freeing females to be whoever they wish to be.”

LUSIKISIKI-FEMALE DJ, Zola James believes in education and personal growth. DJ Zazi started djing virtually at the end of 2019, the passion she had for music was way back during her high school days having to listen to house music production from the likes of Black Coffee and Zakes Bantwini influenced her to be more serious about Djaying.  “ I have not experienced any challenges and by that, I don’t mean it’s easy or there’s easy access everywhere but what I mean is there are normal obstacles that anyone can expect when starting a new career,” she explains.

Having played in one of the lounges in Lusikisiki (ZET ZET Lounge) made her set new goals for herself which is to develop her skills as a DJ and find her technique. Build her brand as DJ Zazi and let the two take it simultaneously.

“The relationship between choices and goals is that your choices are the small steps you take towards your goals and if your choices are not intentional then you may not reach your goals,” she says. She adds that expectations, desires, and feedback from the audience is what she always expects to rock the audience with her playlist, and so far, so good she has always received good and constructive feedback from the crowd.

When asked about the rise of female DJs, why does she think for years there was a distinct lack of girl power behind decks, Zola says, “ There’s always been a scarcity of female DJs in the industry, and I think it’s because the DJs were playing at the clubs only back then our society has always been against females at the clubs whether working or not. And I think because as a society now we are redefining many things, as a result, we are freeing females to be whoever they wish to be.”

Zola’s bright vision for her future isn’t dimming as the DJ sees herself as a well-known DJ and a well-established businesswoman with a CA title next to her name.
