Staff from the Residence Administration and Staff Accommodation (RASA) unit have gathered in Port Alfred for a three-day strategic planning workshop running from 5–7 November. The session aims to set the agenda for 2026 while aligning with the university’s Vision 2030 goals.
What Happened
The workshop provides a space for RASA to reflect on its operations and identify areas for improvement. Discussions centre on strengthening financial management, improving operational efficiency, refining residence allocation procedures, and enhancing student vibrancy and first-year living experiences.
The engagement also links RASA’s plans to the university’s broader transformation and sustainability agenda. Participants are encouraged to contribute innovative solutions that will help build a resilient and inclusive residence system.
“This is not just planning — it’s about shaping the kind of residence environment that supports both students and staff to thrive,” said one RASA official.
Official Response
Facilitators ensured that strategic alignment is essential to ensure long-term impact. The workshop, they said, is designed to position RASA as a leading example of operational excellence and responsive management.
“By refining our systems and policies, we’re ensuring that our residences remain efficient, student-centred, and future-ready,” a senior participant noted.
Community Impact
The outcomes of this workshop are expected to influence residence life across campuses. Improved efficiency, stronger financial sustainability, and an enhanced student experience will directly benefit thousands of students and staff in the years ahead.
Stakeholders expressed optimism that the 2026 roadmap will strengthen accountability and promote a vibrant, supportive campus community.
