Winnie Madikizela-Mandela Local Municipality held a public education outreach in Qobo Village, Ward 27, on 25 November 2025. The event aimed to help residents understand how government services work and how to access them. Several departments attended.
What Happened
The municipality coordinated the outreach with core government units. These included Customer Care, Free Basic Services, SASSA, and Social Development.
Each department delivered short, clear presentations on its responsibilities. In addition, residents received the chance to ask questions and raise concerns directly with officials.
The session drew strong community interest, and many residents said the practical information helped them understand available services.
Official Response
Ward councillor Guqaza thanked the community for attending in large numbers.
“We appreciate everyone who came to learn,” he said. “I also thank all government departments for taking time to educate our residents. This support strengthens service delivery and builds trust.”
Officials noted positive engagement and encouraged residents to keep using public platforms for feedback.
Community Impact
The outreach gave residents clearer guidance on grants, social support, free basic services, and municipal processes. As a result, many locals left with improved confidence about accessing help when needed.
Meanwhile, the municipality says more education drives will follow as part of its ongoing public participation programme.
