Princess Stella Sigcau II is the daughter of the late ANC liberation activist Nkosi Ntsikayezwe Sigcau and Princess Ndlunkulu Nombethe of the Madikizela Royal family. Her grandfather, the late King Manzolwandle Sigcau and the Madikizela Royal family played a pivotal role in her upbringing, shaping her cultural identity. Hailing from a lineage of royalty, her roots trace back through generations of esteemed leaders, including King Marhelane and Kumkani Faku.
Educationally, Princess Stella boasts an impressive background, having studied International Relations from the University of Stellenbosch, holding a B Proc Law degree from the University of Natal, and a Diploma in Business Management from Varsity College. Additionally, she has pursued studies in diplomacy, obtaining a diploma from the School of Diplomacy, DIRCO, and a Master’s degree in Public Management from the University of Pretoria.
Diplomatic Service and Cultural Diplomacy
With a career spanning 19 years in the Department of International Relations and Cooperation, Princess Stella has served as a diplomat in Thailand, Republic of Congo, Botswana, and is currently the Consul: Political and Economic in Hong Kong, holding the position of Charge de Affairs. Her diplomatic prowess extends beyond official duties, as she actively engages in cultural diplomacy, fostering unity among South Africa’s diverse cultures and heritage.
Philanthropy and Advocacy
Beyond the diplomatic realm, Princess Stella has dedicated herself to philanthropy, community development, and advocacy. Her initiatives span community, rural, women, and youth development, addressing critical issues such as gender-based violence, child and human trafficking, skills training, and empowerment. Notably, her Khuthaza Ukufunda Initiative focuses on donating books to under-resourced rural libraries and schools, promoting a culture of reading among the youth.
