The Port St Johns Local Municipality, led by Mayor CS Mazuza and Speaker S Sicoto, has officially handed over the contractor for the Mthalala Access Road project in Ward 04, Port St Johns. The initiative is designed to maintain and improve a key road, ensuring better access for residents while boosting local economic opportunities.
The handover ceremony was attended by councillors and officials, including Acting Municipal Manager Mr. S Wana. The project will directly benefit 20 labourers, two Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs), one security personnel, as well as skilled and unskilled workers.
Beyond job creation, the project will open opportunities for residents to rent out sites and provide accommodation for employees working on the development. This ensures that the economic benefits of the project extend beyond the construction itself, supporting the local community in multiple ways.
The Mthalala Access Road project forms part of the Municipality’s commitment to improve infrastructure while promoting sustainable development and inclusive growth in the region.
