Pitso: Am I the Only One Who Can Fix Chiefs?

Pitso Mosimane has responded to calls from Kaizer Chiefs supporters and pundits suggesting that he is the only coach capable of restoring the club’s former glory. After a brief stint in Saudi Arabia that ended in relegation with Abha Club, Mosimane is back in South Africa, sparking speculation about his potential move to Amakhosi.

In an exclusive interview with iDiski Times, the three-time CAF Champions League-winning coach addressed the growing sentiment around his suitability for the Chiefs. “First, I would like to know why am I the only one when there are many coaches in the world who can fix Kaizer Chiefs,” Mosimane questioned. “There are good German coaches and Serbian coaches. They have all the coaches; why am I the only one to fix that? There’s a lot of people who can fix it.”

Mosimane also challenged the notion of short-term fixes versus long-term planning. “Do Chiefs want to win MTN8 and then say they’ve turned the corner? Or do you wanna fix the team for the next eight to ten years? You know, you come, you win the top eight, three games. Then you’ve turned the corner? Then the next thing you don’t qualify for the same top eight that you won. Nedbank is four games. You can play three first-division teams by luck of the draw, you’re in the final and win it. I think the only thing that judges you as a team is the league, it’s the league. So how are you going to do it? Of course, it’s a big project, you need to change many things.”

Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs are finalizing a deal for Nasreddine Nabi and five members of his new-look technical team ahead of the 2024/25 season. As the club charts its path forward, the debate over who is best suited to lead Chiefs back to prominence continues to be a hot topic among fans and analysts alike.
