The O.R. Tambo District Municipality, in partnership with the Clinix Health Group, launched a humanitarian initiative on Thursday to support 80 families who lost their belongings during recent floods in Maiden Farm, under the King Sabatha Dalindyebo Local Municipality.
WHAT HAPPENED
The briefing, held earlier today, outlined plans to hand over essential household items such as bedding, furniture, and kitchen supplies to flood-affected households. The initiative aims to help families rebuild their lives after widespread flood damage disrupted homes and livelihoods in the area.
Officials from both O.R. Tambo District Municipality and Clinix Health Group emphasized that the intervention is part of an ongoing disaster response effort focused on restoring dignity and stability to displaced residents.
In addition, community members and local leaders gathered at Maiden Farm to witness the symbolic handover ceremony, which reflects the power of partnership between government and the private sector in addressing humanitarian crises.
OFFICIAL RESPONSE
Municipal representatives commended Clinix Health Group for stepping forward to assist in disaster relief efforts.
“Our goal is to restore dignity — one home at a time,” said a municipal spokesperson. “This partnership shows what can be achieved when local government and private organisations work together for the people.”
Meanwhile, Clinix Health Group reaffirmed its commitment to community development and disaster relief.
“As a health group, we believe in caring for communities beyond hospital walls,” said a Clinix representative. “This initiative is about compassion, hope, and rebuilding lives.”
The partnership also forms part of the district’s broader Disaster Response and Community Resilience Programme, aimed at providing sustainable recovery support to vulnerable households.
COMMUNITY IMPACT
The donation brought smiles and relief to families who have struggled since the floods. Many residents expressed gratitude for the assistance, noting that it offered both emotional and practical support during a difficult period.
Moreover, local leaders praised the collaboration for putting people’s welfare first. The initiative not only replaces lost items but also rebuilds morale and strengthens community spirit.
As a result, the effort marks a significant step toward recovery for families who have endured months of hardship.
