On 24 October 2025, Nyandeni Local Municipality held its Intergovernmental Relations (IGR) Forum at the Council Chambers. The session, led by Councillor A. Vuthela, reviewed progress on the IDP and Budget Process Plan for the 2026–27 financial year. It also allowed government departments and stakeholders to present updates on their service delivery programmes.
What Happened
The meeting brought together key government sectors and private partners. Each presented their role in improving services within the municipality. Social Development outlined plans to assist vulnerable families and reduce poverty. DEDEAT praised the municipality’s efforts to curb pollution and shared poverty relief strategies. Highlife Safety Solutions, a private company, showcased livestock security systems such as GPS trackers, CCTV cameras, and electric fences. Home Affairs raised concerns over uncollected IDs and delays in birth registrations.
The session aimed to ensure all stakeholders are working together as the municipality prepares for the next financial cycle.
Official Response
Chairing the forum, Councillor A. Vuthela said teamwork remains key to better governance. “This platform helps us align our goals and improve coordination between departments,” said Vuthela.
The Manager for IGR confirmed that preparations are underway for the Mayoral Imbizo set for 10–13 November 2025. The event will review the Annual Performance Report and discuss the Situational Analysis for the 2026–27 planning year.
Community Impact
The IGR meeting strengthened cooperation between departments and the municipality. Residents are expected to benefit from better coordination and improved access to services. Issues such as ID collection, pollution control, and livestock safety were prioritised for follow-up action. The forum also sted the municipality’s ongoing commitment to responsive and transparent governance.
