Nyandeni Local Municipality has once again taken a step towards improving community lives by handing over contracts for the construction of houses in Ward 30 at Mchonco and Ward 01 at Siqikini.
The initiative forms part of the ISIDIMA project, which is aimed at transforming the living conditions of disadvantaged households. Officials confirmed that these houses will not only provide shelter but also restore dignity to families who have long endured inadequate housing.
In addition to addressing housing needs, the project will create temporary job opportunities for residents during the construction phase, ensuring the community benefits both socially and economically.
Each house has been carefully planned to provide comfort and basic amenities. The standard design will include two bedrooms, a dining room, a sitting room, a toilet, a 50×50 yard fence, and a 5,000-litre water tank to improve access to water.
