The Nyandeni Local Municipality concluded its Mayor’s Imbizo Programme on 13 November 2025, after four days of community engagements across all local wards. The sessions aimed to update residents on municipal plans and give communities a platform to voice concerns and proposals. Officials visited every ward, where residents asked questions, raised complaints, and shared suggestions for improving local services.
What Happened
The Mayor’s Imbizo ran from 10–13 November 2025, covering the entire Nyandeni area.
During each stop, residents were briefed on the municipality’s planning processes and ongoing programmes for the 2025/26 cycle. Community members took the opportunity to show issues affecting daily life, including roads, water access, housing, and waste management.
A resident in Ward 7 said, “We need clearer timelines for service delivery projects so we can track progress as a community.”
Official Response
Municipal leaders emphasised that Nyandeni operates as a people-centred municipality, committed to transparent planning and accountability. Officials encouraged residents to continue participating in public engagements, noting that development requires ongoing cooperation between the municipality and communities.
Municipal spokesperson Nomvuyo M. said, “These imbizos help us to align our plans with what people on the ground need most. We listen, we respond, and we adjust where necessary.”
Community Impact
The outreach programme strengthened direct dialogue between leadership and communities. Moreover, residents welcomed the chance to raise issues openly and called for more regular feedback sessions. The municipality promised to integrate the inputs into final development and budget planning.
