On the 14 October 2025, Nyandeni Local Municipality’s management and Executive Committee (EXCO) gathered for a strategic ICT Summit Engagement Session in preparation for the official ICT Summit later this financial year. The meeting, held under the leadership of Mayor B.V. Ndamase and Municipal Manager S.V. Poswa, brought together departments, partners, and ICT stakeholders to chart a path toward smarter service delivery and digital innovation in Nyandeni.
WHAT HAPPENED
The engagement session focused on enhancing governance through technology. Mayor Ndamase, joined by the TROIKA and Executive Committee Members, emphasized the critical role of ICT in transforming public services.
The session aimed to:
- Improve service delivery and responsiveness,
- Promote transparency and accountability,
- Enhance citizen participation,
- Stimulate local economic development, and
- Strengthen ICT governance, security, and compliance.
In his opening remarks, Mayor Ndamase encouraged all municipal departments to embrace fast-evolving technology to improve operations. “Technology can help us fight crime, boost local business, and ensure that our people receive efficient services,” he noted.

Municipal Manager Mr. S.V. Poswa and senior officials pledged to align all departments with the digital transformation goals discussed. The administration reaffirmed its commitment to fostering collaboration across units to ensure ICT becomes a key driver of effective governance.
The event was attended by key partners, including external ICT SMMEs, the O.R. Tambo District Municipality ICT Unit, the Eastern Cape CoGTA Unit, and the ECDC Youth Development Unit. Their contributions enriched discussions and set a strong foundation for the forthcoming Nyandeni ICT Summit.
COMMUNITY IMPACT
The ICT Engagement Session signals a major step toward modernizing Nyandeni’s municipal systems. By improving data management, digital communication, and service access, residents can expect more transparent governance and faster responses to community needs.
Local SMMEs are also expected to benefit from the municipality’s renewed focus on digital partnerships. “ICT offers real opportunities for entrepreneurs — especially our youth — to innovate and participate in the local economy,” said one attendee from the ECDC Youth Development Unit.
