Nyandeni Local Municipality held its International Literacy Day build-up campaign on 21 August 2025 at Ruze Junior Secondary School in Mhlanganisweni. The event brought together learners and educators from different schools in the area to emphasise the importance of literacy and education.
The participating schools included Libode Private School, Sandi Senior Secondary School, Ndamase Senior Secondary School and Pondolwendlovu Senior Secondary School. Learners showcased their skills and knowledge in preparation for the district-level celebration.
The campaign was organised to promote literacy and empower individuals with knowledge and skills that can improve their lives. It also served as a platform to encourage reading and writing among young people.
Winning schools from the build-up event will go on to represent Nyandeni Municipality at the district celebrations. These will take place on 28 August 2025 at Sulenkama Public Library in Qumbu, hosted by King Mhlontlo Local Municipality.
