The Libode Town Hall was filled with pride and celebration on the 10th of September as people with disabilities from Nyandeni graduated from a training programme designed to equip them with practical workplace and entrepreneurial skills. The initiative was made possible through a partnership between Kellygirl Skills Academy, the Education Training Development Practices SETA (ETDP SETA), and Nyandeni Local Municipality.

What Happened

Graduates received training in a wide range of areas including Reception, Office Administration, Financial Accounting, Property Management, Health and Safety, Cellphone Repair, and Basic Computer Skills. The goal of the programme is to empower people with disabilities to contribute meaningfully to their communities and improve their livelihoods.

“This programme has changed our lives. It has given us confidence and tools to build a future,” said one graduate, receiving a round of applause from fellow learners and guests.

Official Response

Nyandeni Local Municipality praised the collaboration as a step toward inclusivity and sustainable development. Officials explained that empowering people with disabilities through education and skills training is central to building a community where no one is left behind.
