Special Recognition and New Advertising Law
Two individuals, Snyman Rankane and Dr Easy Matjila, received Special Recognition Awards for their long-standing contribution to the media industry.
During the ceremony, Deputy Minister in the Presidency Hon. Kenny Morolong announced that 30% of the national government’s advertising budget must now be spent on community media, a new law that promises to boost smaller publications and stations.
Who Made It Possible
The awards were hosted in partnership with North-West University, which was praised for supporting media development in the region. Founder Ananias Ndlovu and university spokesperson Louis Jacobs both reaffirmed their commitment to uplifting local media.
