The Mayor of Ntabankulu Local Municipality met with the town’s ratepayers on 17 October 2025 to discuss urban development and basic service challenges. The Alfred Nzo District Municipality also joined the session to address water and sanitation issues raised by residents.
What Happened
During the meeting, the Ntabankulu leadership, including the Executive Committee and senior management, engaged the ratepayers’ executive to strengthen cooperation on service delivery priorities. The discussions centred on infrastructure maintenance, urban beautification, and the ongoing surfacing of internal streets. Ratepayers acknowledged the municipality’s progress while calling for improved maintenance of water and sewerage systems.
The Alfred Nzo District Municipality, which oversees water and sanitation, committed to working with Ntabankulu to resolve persistent service interruptions affecting urban residents.
Official Response
Municipal officials stressed that more than 90% of the town’s internal roads have been surfaced, with support from the Office of the Premier. Construction continues on remaining streets and paving works along Main Street. “We appreciate the ratepayers’ constructive input. Together, we can build a cleaner, safer, and better Ntabankulu,” said a municipal representative.
Community Impact
The engagement reaffirmed collaboration between the municipality, the district, and local residents in ensuring reliable basic services. Improved roads and planned infrastructure upgrades are expected to boost local business confidence and town development.
