
Oneletha Sikweyiya, a Grade 12 learner at Phakamani Senior Secondary School in Debe near Ngcobo, died after being swept away by water in a river with a strong current. He had been relaxing with peers following the completion of final matric exams.
School principal Mr Boesman described him as a dedicated and disciplined learner, with high hopes of achieving distinctions in the 2025 final results.
Official Response
Mr Boesman said: “This young man was determined to pursue a law degree. His untimely passing is devastating. You see this, you ask: who can stop such pain, who can heal this?”
Local advocate and youth mentor Petros Majola confirmed that Sikweyiya will be laid to rest on 30 December 2025.
