Breaking boundaries in education, Walter Sisulu University’s bold move to establish a satellite branch in Mbizana, focused on Agriculture and Marine Studies, set to unlock opportunities and transform lives.
In a ground-breaking development, Walter Sisulu University (WSU) is set to establish a satellite branch in Mbizana, prioritizing Agriculture and Marine Studies. This milestone follows a collaborative effort between the Mhlanga Community Property Association (CPA), Winnie Madikizela-Mandela Local Municipality (WMMLM), the Department of Education, and WSU council.
The decision to launch a WSU branch in Mbizana aims to increase access to higher education for local youth, building on the region’s impressive matric results in recent years. Stakeholders have been tasked with thorough planning to ensure a successful implementation, with further details and timeframes to be announced in due course.
Mayor TD Mafumbatha, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting the benefits of reduced travel for local students seeking further education. While initially focusing on Agriculture and Marine Studies, the branch is expected to expand its offerings over time.
This development marks a significant investment in the educational and economic future of the region, and the community is urged to be patient during the planning process.
This partnership is set to make the lives of our people better, as time goes by, it will expand”, – noted Mafumbatha.
