The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality visited Dynamic Kids Preschool in Cotswold on 10 October 2025, to teach children about saving water. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about water conservation, preservation, and sanitation among young learners.
What Happened
The Infrastructure and Engineering Directorate led a fun, hands-on session. Children took part in simple games and demonstrations to learn why every drop of water matters.
They were taught easy ways to save water at home and at school. These included turning off taps while brushing teeth and using buckets instead of hoses when cleaning.
This approach helped young learners understand how small actions can make a big difference.
Official Response
Municipal officials explained that the outreach forms part of a broader water-saving campaign. They believe starting with children builds long-term habits in communities.
“Children are great messengers,” said one facilitator. “They take these lessons home and help influence change.”
The Municipality also encouraged other schools to get involved:
“Would you like us to visit your school next? Send us a message on Facebook Messenger, and let’s make it happen.”
Community Impact
This campaign is timely, especially in areas where droughts and water shortages are common. By teaching children early, the municipality hopes to promote lasting behavior change.
Parents and teachers welcomed the session. Many called it “fun, informative, and urgently necessary.”
