Mthatha Workshop to Empower Township Entrepreneurs with Market Access Skills

A new wave of township entrepreneurship is brewing in Mthatha as the Township Entrepreneurs Alliance (TEA) brings its Kasi Business Workshop to the Eastern Cape on 18 October 2025. The event, themed “Broadening Market Opportunities,” will help local small business owners unlock new markets and partnerships that extend beyond township borders.

Taking place at SMJ Butchery and Car Wash from 09:30 AM to 14:00 PM, the free workshop will equip entrepreneurs with practical tools to reach new customers, diversify their products, and strengthen their digital and business networks.

Why It Matters

The workshop forms part of TEA’s national campaign to “impact kasi entrepreneurs one township at a time.”
By equipping Mthatha’s small business owners with access to markets and mentorship, TEA aims to break systemic barriers to township economic participation.

The initiative also echoes findings from the World Economic Forum, which emphasizes that while access to finance is important, market inclusion and skills development are key to sustainable SME growth.

About TEA

Over the past decade, the Township Entrepreneurs Alliance has trained and supported more than 100,000 entrepreneurs and funded over 500 township-based businesses across South Africa. Through workshops, mentorship, and funding, TEA continues to create a platform for entrepreneurs who are often overlooked by mainstream business ecosystems.
