Minister of South African Police Services wrote an apology statement on his behavior shown on the 2nd of August. Cele trended on social media following his unethical and unacceptable behavior during an interview with ENCA on 2nd August 2022.

During the interview, the Minister spoke on the Krugersdorp rape case that took place about a week ago. The statement leading to the frustration of civilians was what shook most South Africans as the video started circulating on social media platforms.

“A 19- year- old girl was lucky to be raped by one man” said Mr. Cele during the interview.

The Minister got backlash from the public because of his statement. Some civilians on Twitter believe English failed him from explaining the situation and some want him to resign from his position.

“There’s no luck in being raped or harassed. English failed him”

“A statement made by Bheki Cele, no guys he must resign”.

Cele however wrote an apology statement to the public for his “improper behavior”.

“I would like to apologize for the improper behavior I showed on the 2nd of August 2022. I have not been feeling well due to stress and lack of sleep for several days. This is the reason why I spoke the way I did on Tuesday. I sincerely apologize for my behavior. I recognize how important our woman are in this country. I know that feeling stressed due to work is not an excuse since I could’ve said better.

I am ready to undertake any reprimand that is fitting for my improper behavior. Again, my apologies” said the Minister in his apology statement.
