MINISTER NXESI TO HOST SERVICE DELIVERY CAMPAIGNS IN O.R. TAMBO AND ALFRED NZO DISTRICTS IN THE EASTERN CAPE
The Department of Employment and Labour’s Minister; Hon. Thulas Nxesi, MP

The Department of Employment and Labour’s Minister; Hon. Thulas Nxesi, MP. will host service delivery campaigns in Ingquza Hill and Winnie Madikizela-Mandela Local Municipalities which are under O.R. Tambo and Alfred Nzo Districts respectively on the 20- 21 April 2023.

The Major Communication Campaign spearheaded by the Eastern Cape Province is hosted quarterly in every financial year in different areas across the Province with the aim to bring a basket of services to the Employers in Lusikisiki and communities surrounding Bizana.

The objective of these campaigns are to accelerate client inquiries, register Unemployment Insurance Fund and Occupational injuries and diseases, register un/employed work seekers on the South African Employment System, assist with information on the National Minimum Wage and assist ex-mine worker claims and enquiries. This initiative will bring a one-stop-shop to clients as there will be other sister departments, SETAs and financial institutions who will be offering their services on the day.

Building up to the main event, the Department earmarked the week of 17 – 20 April, from Monday to Thursday, to embark on blitz inspections where employers are inspected to check compliance with labour laws and offer services on the spot to clients in Port St Johns, Lusikisiki, flagstaff including other wards in Bizana which are far from where the event will be hosted respectively as some of community members will not be able to attend the main campaign.

“In realization that our communities are becoming impatient with respect to service delivery challenges, an observation influenced by the influx of complaints received by the Province about inadequate services, we have taken a stance to use this innovation to have access to far flung communities to advocate and market departmental services so that the information gap that exists is bridged”, said Ms Nobuko Ngaki, Acting Chief Director; Provincial Operations: Eastern Cape.
