On September 20, 2024, Minister of Employment and Labour Nomakhosazana Meth joined the Ntabakhulu community to commemorate Heritage Month, organized by the Nowalala Traditional Authority. The event brought together various government departments and stakeholders to provide essential services to the community.
Key Services Provided
- UIF Payments: R39,142.86 disbursed to 14 clients
- Employment Services: 51 work seekers registered on the Employment Services of South Africa database
- Ex-Mineworker Assistance: Support provided to 23 individuals
- Career Counseling: Guidance offered to 51 individuals
- Health Screenings: Medical services and health advice provided by the Eastern Cape Department of Health
Despite the icy cold weather, community members enthusiastically participated, benefiting from these vital services. Minister Meth expressed gratitude to the community and stakeholders, emphasizing the event’s success as a testament to their commitment to serving rural areas.
This initiative is part of the Department’s “DEL Friday” (Yazini – Know Your Ministry) program, aimed at delivering government services to remote communities. Minister Meth highlighted the importance of community partnerships, saying, “You are the village it takes to raise a child”.
