Ndzondelelo High School and Loyiso High School, both in Zwide, Gqeberha, have been sponsored with a 1Gbps download / 500Mbps upload fibre package by MetroFibre for 24 months.
MetroFibre offers selected schools that fall within its coverage area, and who are registered with the Department of Education and/or the Department of Higher Education and Training, a 1Gbps download / 500 Mbps upload package at no cost for the first 24 months from date of activation. Thereafter, the schools will be eligible for a 50% discount on the monthly recurring cost of business retail prices should they wish to continue.

“MetroFibre is wholly committed to bringing together the power of education and technology. Providing the connectivity needed to access the world wide web – and reach beyond the classroom – is just one way that we can facilitate that. We know that internet access provides the means for students and facilitators to improve academic performance and promote research skills and critical thinking. It’s so much more than just being ‘connected’ – it’s an opportunity to enhance education and learning. It’s also the primary way in which virtually all administrative functions, including school communications, are conducted. We also realise that for many schools, internet connectivity is simply out of reach without some form of sponsorship or subsidisation. This is our way of supporting communities in which we operate and making a tangible difference to those who need it most,” explains Bantu Rayi, Area Sales Lead at MetroFibre.
As MetroFibre grows and acquires critical mass on its network, the FNO has made a firm commitment to reinvest in its local communities, specifically in education and providing the connectivity needed to ensure that learners are ready and able to take on a new, tech-driven world.

“A technologically-enabled future is the only way to achieve greater economic and social inclusion for all South Africans and enhances the competitiveness of our economy as we embrace the 4th Industrial revolution, ensuring that no one gets left behind – not at school, not at work, and not at home,” he adds.
