The Winnie Madikizela-Mandela Local Municipality, in partnership with Yozi GM Modeling Academy and Wild Coast, hosted a joyous homecoming celebration today for Melisa Nontshe, the newly crowned Teen Universe Petite South Africa. The 16-year-old, a Grade 11 learner at Oliver Tambo Technical High School, was welcomed by an enthusiastic crowd at her school in Nkantolo, Ward 27.
Local leaders, community members, and supporters gathered to honor Melisa’s achievement. Speaking at the event, Mayor Cllr. Nokonwaba Cengimbo praised the young queen’s success as a shining example of youth excellence and perseverance.
“As Miss Teen Universe Petite South Africa, Melisa is an inspiration to our young people, and we are honored to support her on her journey,” the mayor stated.
Melisa, who resides in Mount Zion, Ward 26, delivered a heartfelt speech, expressing gratitude to her family, mentors, and the Bizana community. She emphasized her commitment to using her new platform to uplift and inspire others.
“I am overwhelmed with gratitude and joy,” Melisa said. “Thank you to my family, my manager Miss Zizile Mthembu, my school, the Winnie Madikizela-Mandela Local Municipality, Yozi GM, Wild Coast, and everyone who contributed to my journey. I believe every young person deserves the opportunity to shine and pursue their dreams. I hope my story inspires others to work hard and never give up on their aspirations.”
