In a proactive move towards enhancing local governance, Her Worship Cllr Tsileng Sobuthongo, the Honourable Mayor of Ntabankulu Local Municipality, convened a strategic engagement with all 190 ward committees and 19 ward councilors. The purpose of this initiative is to bolster the effectiveness of these committees at the ward level and optimize service delivery for the residents of Ntabankulu.
During the session, Mayor Sobuthongo underscored the pivotal role of ward committees as the eyes and ears of local government at the grassroots level. She emphasized the need for vigilance in ensuring a seamless flow of information about issues affecting the community at that level. Expressing concern over critical matters circulating on social media platforms without corresponding government representation at the village level, Mayor Sobuthongo urged the ward committees to address these issues with diligence and honesty.
The engagement comes ahead of the Integrated Development Plan (IDP) and Budget Outreach program scheduled from the 13th to the 17th of November 2023. During this program, Mayor Sobuthongo, alongside her Executive Committee, will visit all 19 wards of Ntabankulu, reinforcing the commitment to inclusive and participatory governance. The focus remains on fostering collaboration between local leaders and the community for the betterment of Ntabankulu.
