The Winnie Madikizela-Mandela Local Municipality officially launched its 2025 Mayoral Imbizo Outreach Programme in Ward 27 on 04 November. Led by Her Worship the Mayor, T.D. Mafumbatha, the initiative aims to deepen community participation, strengthen transparency, and ensure residents play an active role in shaping local development.
What Happened
The launch of the 2025 Mayoral Imbizo Outreach celebrates the start of a series of community engagements across the municipality.
Her Worship the Mayor was joined by Members of the Mayoral Executive Committee, Alfred Nzo District Councillors, and senior officials.
During the gathering, the municipality presented its 2024/2025 service delivery performance report and shared progress on the 2025/2026 Integrated Development Plan (IDP). The report detailed the status of infrastructure projects, water and sanitation upgrades, and other initiatives aimed at improving community well-being.
“This Imbizo is about listening to our people, reporting back, and working together for a better future,” said Mayor Mafumbatha during her address.
Residents were given the floor to voice service delivery concerns, propose practical solutions, and engage directly with municipal leadership a key step toward responsive and transparent governance.
Official Response
Municipal officials reaffirmed their commitment to inclusive governance, pledging to address community feedback through structured follow-ups and continued engagement.
Mayor Mafumbatha emphasized that the Imbizo Programme serves as a bridge between government and the people, ensuring decisions reflect the real needs of communities.
“We are here to account and to act. Your participation guides our development path,” the Mayor added.
The municipality also noted that the programme will move through all wards in the 04 November, giving every community a platform to contribute to local planning and service improvement.
Community Impact
The Ward 27 session drew strong attendance and positive feedback from residents who welcomed the opportunity to interact directly with the Mayor and her executive.
Community members said the discussions brought clarity on municipal plans and opened doors for collaboration in improving essential services.
“This kind of dialogue helps us understand what’s being done and how we can help make it work,” said a local resident.
By maintaining open communication through the Imbizo series, the municipality hopes to build stronger accountability, improve trust, and advance sustainable development across all wards.
