The Honourable Mayor T.D. Mafumbatha, on 02 September 2025, officially handed over two important infrastructure projects to communities in Ward 10 and Ward 2.

The programme started at PJ. Mhlanti, where the Mayor presented the completed resurfacing of the Ntlenzi to Mcetheni Access Road. The work was carried out by Vuyie Xolie Construction and is expected to improve accessibility and road safety for residents who rely on this route daily.

From there, the Mayor moved to Mqhokweni SPS in Ward 2 to hand over another milestone the Eyethu Project and Plant Hire initiative. This includes the rehabilitation of the Mqhokweni to Nokhatshile Access Road and the development of a new low-level crossing, which will improve connectivity for surrounding communities.

Mayor Mafumbatha outlined the municipality’s ongoing efforts to deliver meaningful change through infrastructure. She said the projects are part of a broader commitment to improve mobility, support social progress, and unlock opportunities for local economic growth.

“These projects reflect our dedication to building better communities through sustainable infrastructure. By investing in road rehabilitation and access improvements, we are not only improving mobility but also laying a foundation for social and economic development,” said Mafumbatha.
