Executive Mayor Dr Samkelo Janda made an oversight visit to the Elliotdale landfill site to assess progress. He assessed how recyclable materials are sorted and packaged, noting steady progress in the municipality’s waste management efforts.
Dr Janda said he was pleased with the level of commitment shown by workers at the site.
“I’m absolutely happy with the progress I’m seeing here today. This is exactly the kind of dedication and effort we need to make a real difference in our community,” he said.
His visit formed part of the municipality’s broader strategy to strengthen environmental sustainability and encourage responsible waste management across Elliotdale.
Guiding Better Use of Space and Improving Efficiency
During the walkthrough, Dr Janda also shared practical advice on how the landfill’s available space could be used more efficiently. He stressed that effective waste management requires disciplined planning and consistent community participation.
Municipality officials said the guidance supports their long-term goals of expanding recycling initiatives, improving site operations, and promoting cleaner environments for residents.
