The Executive Mayor of Sarah Baartman District Municipality, Councilor Deon de Vos, on 13 November 2025, handed over football kits, a first aid kit, and water bottles to Makana Rini United FC. The handover took place in Makana as part of the Mayor’s ongoing program to boost local sports development across the district.
What Happened?
Makana Rini United FC received new playing gear and essential medical items during a brief ceremony attended by municipal officials, team members and community supporters.
The donation is aimed at improving player welfare, match readiness, and team morale ahead of upcoming fixtures.
Mayor De Vos emphasized the value of investing in youth sport.
“Sport shapes confident and responsible young people. Supporting local teams helps strengthen community pride,” he said.

Club representatives welcomed the gesture, saying the equipment will help the team compete more effectively.
“This support gives our players a real boost. We appreciate the Mayor’s continued commitment to our community,” the team said.
