The Alfred Nzo District Municipality (ANDM) has informed residents of Matatiele’s Ward 20 about a planned water interruption on Thursday, 6 November 2025, from 06:00 to 17:00.
The affected areas include Harry Gwala and Harry Gwala Extension, where water supply will be temporarily cut off.
The interruption is part of routine maintenance work scheduled at the Harry Gwala reservoir, aimed at ensuring the long-term reliability of water infrastructure.
Official Response
In a public notice, the Municipality explained that the maintenance is necessary to support efficient service delivery and to prevent unexpected breakdowns.
“We apologise for the inconvenience caused by this interruption and thank residents for their understanding and cooperation,” the statement read.
The Municipality urged residents to store sufficient water for household use during the planned shutdown period.
Community Impact
The scheduled maintenance may temporarily affect water availability in high-lying areas of Matatiele, particularly in Ward 20.
However, ANDM reassured the public that supply will be restored immediately after the work is completed.
