The Makana Local Municipality has stepped up its agricultural support efforts with a livestock handover to Hedraweb Farm, a family-owned enterprise run by the Dlabantu family. The handover included 10 Bonsmara heifers and one bull, aimed at improving local livestock production and food security.

What Happened
As part of its ongoing service delivery and rural development programme, the municipality handed over the animals and farming tools to Hedraweb Farm. The support package also included fencing materials, a tractor from the Office of the Premier, a portable kraal, and a stock dam to boost productivity and sustainability.
Official Response
Ms Nomonde Dlabantu, the farm owner, expressed her gratitude for the assistance. Dlabantu also emphasized that her children are actively involved in the daily running of the farm, ensuring the legacy continues for generations.
Community Impact
The initiative has been welcomed as a model for empowering small-scale farmers in the region. It is expected to create new opportunities for youth participation in agriculture and promote self-sufficiency within rural communities.
