Lusikisiki mass murder case transferred to Mthatha High Court

The shocking case against six men accused in the tragic Lusikisiki mass murder, where 18 lives were lost, has been officially moved to the Mthatha High Court. The decision comes with a remand date of April 14, 2025, leaving the local community wrestling with the aftermath of this wicked crime.

Initially, two other men, Lwando Abi (33) and Zenande Paya (38), faced charges alongside the six, but the state has since withdrawn the charges against them, a development that has sparked discussions within the community.

The accused: Mzukisi Ndamase (46), Siphosoxolo Myekethe (45), Aphiwe “AP” Ndende (25), Bonga Hintsa (31), Mawethu Nomdlembu (36), and Songezo Vuma (20)—are charged with a disturbing range of offenses. These include conspiracy to commit murder, 18 counts of murder, kidnapping, robbery with aggravating circumstances, and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition. All six have opted to abandon bail, a decision that signals the gravity of the situation.

The tragic events happened on September 28, 2024, in Ngobozana Village, where the gunfire claimed the lives of 18 individuals at two neighboring homesteads. Adding to the complexity of the case, the accused have also been linked to the murder of local politician Mncedi Gijana on August 19, 2024, deepening the community’s fear and outrage.
