A group of passionate Eastern Cape filmmakers is calling on government departments, organizations, businesses, and members of civil society to support their upcoming short film project, “Please Help Me Die”. The film, set to be shot in Mandileni Village, Mount Frere, aims to showcase the region’s untapped talent and natural beauty.
The team of 25 filmmakers from across the Eastern Cape is seeking support in the form of catering, transport, accommodation, and financial donations to help cover the estimated R100 000 production costs. The eight-day shoot is scheduled to take place from February 16-23, 2025.
According to Kanyisa Mlatha, a member of the filmmaking team, the project aims to contribute to the growth of the local film industry, provide opportunities for local talent, and promote the Eastern Cape as a prime filming destination.
“We believe that this project will not only showcase the rich heritage and stories of the Eastern Cape but also foster collaboration and growth within the local film industry,” said Mlatha.
The team is urging anyone who can provide support to come forward and help make this project a reality.
