To improve safety and make police services more accessible, KZN Premier and IFP Provincial Chairperson Hon. Thamsanqa Ntuli handed over four mobile police stations to the South African Police Service (SAPS) today.
The mobile units will help address long-standing complaints from rural residents who often travel long distances to access police services. The handover is part of a broader effort to bring faster and more visible policing to remote and underserved communities.
Premier Ntuli described the initiative as a direct response to community concerns, saying it will help close the gap between the police and the people they serve.
“These mobile stations are not just vehicles, they are a promise of safety and quicker justice for areas that have felt ignored for too long,” he said.
The deployment aims to improve response times, increase police visibility, and ensure that people in rural areas are no longer left vulnerable due to distance and limited access.
Local leaders and residents welcomed the intervention, describing it as a much-needed step toward restoring trust and improving public safety in the province.
The handover forms part of KwaZulu-Natal’s ongoing #SaferKZN campaign, focused on creating safer, more connected communities across the province.
