On 23 October 2025, the Public Health, Parks and Cemeteries Sub-Directorate officially launched the Middle Street Recreational Park in KwaLanga. The project forms part of the 2025/26 People’s Budget, which focuses on improving public spaces and promoting a cleaner, safer, and more inclusive city environment.
What Happened
The newly upgraded Middle Street Park features fresh landscaping, sturdy fencing, new pathways, and modern playground equipment. It also includes park furniture and educational games designed to create a safe and enjoyable environment for both children and adults.
Official Response
Member of the Mayoral Committee for Public Health, Councillor Thsonono Buyeye, together with Acting Executive Director Annalisa Dyakala, led the official opening. They urged residents to protect and maintain the park, discouraging vandalism and illegal dumping. “This facility belongs to the community, let’s keep it clean and safe for everyone,” said Councillor Buyeye.
