King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipality (KSD) hosted a Technical Inter-governmental Relations Meeting yesterday at the Nkululekweni Council Chamber. The gathering brought together various government sectors to coordinate efforts aimed at improving service delivery, driving economic development, and addressing issues raised by local communities.
Director of Public Safety, Mr Fikile Ndinisa, assured delegates of his department’s commitment to ensuring community needs are met and that planned programmes are implemented. He also reported on the status of one of the buildings in Mthatha, explaining that the National Commissioner has granted legal authority for the Department of Public Safety to take it over. The building, currently occupied by street dwellers, is set to be cleared in the near future to ensure proper use.
Adding to the agenda, the Coega Industrial Development Zone (IDZ) shared updates on its agro-processing expansion near Mthatha Airport. The project is designed not only to enhance the landscape of the Eastern region of the Eastern Cape but also to unlock new employment opportunities for communities within KSD.
The meeting reinforced the importance of collaboration between government departments and partners in tackling service delivery challenges and creating sustainable growth for the municipality and its people.
