the King Sabata Dalindyebo (KSD) Local Municipality has officially launched road construction projects in Wards 11, 16, 26, and 36, taking a major step in improving rural infrastructure. The contracts were handed over by Deputy Mayor Councilor. S. Nyengane, with work already set to begin in the villages of KwaLindile, KwaDlomo, EMxambule, and EWilo.
What Happened?
On 12 November 2025, Councilor Nyengane led the handover ceremony, emphasizing the municipality’s commitment to accessible and safe road networks. Each ward will benefit from 3 kilometres of road construction, ensuring smoother travel and better access to essential services.
The initiative forms part of the municipality’s ongoing rural development plan to upgrade local infrastructure and improve service delivery in remote areas.
Official Response
Speaking during the event, Councilor. Nyengane said the projects aim to stimulate local employment and development.
“These roads will not only improve connectivity but also create much-needed job opportunities for our people,” he said.
The municipality confirmed that job opportunities per ward will be created during the construction phase, prioritizing local residents to strengthen community participation in development efforts.
Community Impact
The new road projects are expected to make a meaningful difference in residents’ daily lives, particularly by improving access to schools, clinics, and markets. Local businesses and transport operators have welcomed the development, saying it will ease the movement of goods and people.
Community members have also expressed hope that this initiative marks the beginning of more sustainable infrastructure improvements across rural KSD areas.
