Two suspects aged 21 and 38 are expected to appear in the Komani Magistrate’s Court on 17 November 2025. Their arrest followed a joint operation by the Komani Flying Squad, the Komani K9 Unit, and Crime Intelligence on 14 November. Both suspects were found with mandrax and tik during separate raids in the Komani CBD.
What Happened
The multidisciplinary team carried out intelligence-driven raids at two premises linked to drug dealing. In the first operation, officers arrested a 38-year-old suspect at his business in the Komani CBD. He had 790 boss mandrax tablets and 198 grams of tik, with a combined street value of R25 740. During the second raid, police arrested a 21-year-old suspect with 55 grams of tik, worth an estimated R7 150. An officer from the Komani Flying Squad said, “We are tightening our fight against drug distribution. These arrests send a strong message to those who target our communities.”
Official Response
Police confirmed that both suspects face charges of possession and dealing in drugs.
Authorities praised the teamwork between the Flying Squad, K9 Unit and Crime Intelligence, saying the operation formed part of broader efforts to curb drug trafficking in Komani.
A police spokesperson added, “We will continue to run targeted operations to protect communities from the impact of drugs.”
