Simphiwe Tukushe, a 30-year-old resident of Mkhonjana Locality, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for murdering a man during an argument at a house party in January 2023. The Komani Regional Court also declared Tukushe unfit to possess a firearm ¹.
According to reports, the altercation occurred when the deceased was hosting friends at his home. Tukushe drew a knife and stabbed the victim in the neck during the heated argument. Despite being rushed to Frontier Hospital in Queenstown, the victim was declared dead upon arrival.
Tukushe was arrested on the same day and granted bail during his first court appearance on January 9, 2023. He remained out on bail throughout his trial, ultimately leading to his conviction and sentencing on February 14, 2025.
Acting District Commissioner Brigadier Gcinumuzi Wiseman Chiya welcomed the sentence, stating that it serves as a strong deterrent to those who disregard human life. He commended the court for ensuring that justice prevails.
