The Nyandeni Local Municipality, through its Local Economic Development (LED) Tourism Unit led by Councillor P. Matinise, in partnership with OR Tambo District Municipality, hosted a vibrant kayak racing and tourism showcase at Tshani Mankosi, Ward 26. The event, organised by Mdumbi Adventures, drew together community members, stakeholders, and visitors to promote eco-tourism and local products.

WHAT HAPPENED

The day featured competitive kayak racing along the scenic Mdumbi coastline, complemented by an exhibition of arts, crafts, and local products. The platform allowed local artists and crafters to display and sell their work while explaining the Wild Coast’s natural beauty and its need for conservation.

Mdumbi, famous for its unspoiled beaches, green hills, and tranquil rivers, is gaining attention as a prime eco-tourism destination. Events like this, combining sport and culture, aim to attract more visitors from South Africa and abroad.
